A shower puff or loofah can hang in the same spot for so long that it becomes part of the bathroom background. Take it down and inspect it. If it is difficult to clean, stays damp or has changed in a way you cannot explain, replacing it or choosing a simpler washing method is worth considering.
Read the manufacturer's care and replacement instructions. Materials differ, and a schedule suitable for one accessory is not automatically right for another. Avoid relying on a universal number of weeks without considering the product's guidance and condition.
Hanging an accessory directly beneath the showerhead may expose it to water repeatedly. A more open location outside the spray can be more practical, provided it is still suitable and clean. Give it room rather than pressing it against a wet wall or sealing it in a travel bag.
A loop that is coming loose or a puff that is unraveling can make the item awkward to use. Do not keep it simply because the center still looks intact. The accessory should be easy to control without scratching or requiring extra pressure.
Consider whether you need it at all. A product may be usable with hands or another appropriate method according to its directions. You do not have to create a large lather to make a shower feel complete.
Use only care methods suitable for the material. Boiling, microwaving or applying a strong household chemical can damage an accessory or create another problem. If cleaning instructions are unavailable, a simpler alternative may be preferable to improvising.
Avoid sharing personal washing accessories. In a shared bathroom, choose clear storage so each person knows which items are theirs. Keep the accessory away from cleaning tools used for the tub or toilet.
If using it irritates your skin, stop rather than searching for a way to press more gently through an unsuitable texture. Persistent skin symptoms deserve appropriate advice.
A shower accessory should make washing easier. If keeping it clean and dry takes more attention than the benefit it provides, leaving it out is a reasonable improvement. The shower does not need every traditional accessory to work comfortably.
